  • What is Docstoc?

    Docstoc is a user-generated community for sharing professional documents. With Docstoc, you can find and download a vast quantity of high quality legal, business, technology, educational, and creative documents for free. Docstoc also allows users to upload their documents to be promoted and shared with the world. Lastly, Docstoc members can store their documents in their own person online folders for access anytime and anywhere.
  • Does Docstoc have a Blog or Twitter account?

    Yes. Read up-to-date information on Docstoc and other advances on our site by going to our Blog. We also have a Twitter account, follow us and you will receive information about new documents on our site! Follow us.
  • What file formats are supported by Docstoc?

    You can upload Adobe Acrobat files (.PDF), Word Files (.DOC and .DOCX), Spreadsheets (.XLS and .XLSX), Presentations (.PPT and .PPTX) and even text files (.TXT and .RTF).
  • How to Stop Email Notifications from Docstoc?

    Clicking the ‘settings’ tab at the top of any Docstoc page will take you to your account settings. From there, you will have the option to remove yourself from any of our email notifications.

Technical FAQs

  • I can’t register or I get an invalid username?

    When registering, please do so before attempting to download a document. Be creative with your username, keep the length 13 characters or less and remember to use only alpha-numeric characters; special characters and spaces will invalidate the username. If you are receiving an invalid message when registering, it is because the username you are choosing is being used by another user. Please try again with a more inventive username. If the problem persists, try using a different browser. We have found that sometimes changing or refreshing the browser will resolve the problem. Additionally, please be sure to have cookies enabled on your computer as well as having installed the latest version of flash.
  • How long does it take to upload a document?

    The time to upload a document varies depending on various factors: The type of document, the size of the document, the number of documents in front of you in the document queue, and the size and type of documents in front of you in the document queue. Do not worry, your documents will upload.
  • I cannot view a document:

    Please make sure that you have the most recent version of Flash installed on your computer for you to actually see the document. Once you insure that you have the latest version of Flash installed on your computer, you may wish to try a different browser.
  • I registered but now I cannot sign into Docstoc:

    Docstoc requires that you enable cookies. You will be unable to sign in until you do enable your cookies.
  • Why are my profile Stats not up-to-date?

    Docstoc does not update the stats in real time. There is an approximate 48 hour lag before the stats are updated.
  • Why is the language of my document incorrect?

    The language of a document is automatically determined at upload. However, sometimes the system gets it wrong. If this occurs, it is very easy to fix. Please log into your account and open the document page for the document with which the language is wrong. Then please click the edit button and a pop up will occur. Please use the language pull down bar to select the correct language.
  • The hyperlinks in my document are not working:

    This sometimes happens and we have no explanation as to why it occurs. First, please check your document to insure that the hyperlink is active in the document. If it is active in the document, please try uploading the document again using the 'upload new version' button.
  • I made revisions to my document, now what do I do?

    If you have made revisions to your document, please do not delete the document because this may invalidate your ability to upload the document again to Docstoc. Instead, please open the document page and use the 'upload new version' button to upload the new version.
  • I cannot upload my document:

    The most common problem encountered when uploading a document can be fixed by simply closing the document on your computer and insuring that any program using the document is also closed on your computer.
  • I uploaded a document and now it is gone:

    This sometimes occurs and the document may have been removed by Docstoc for a variety of reasons. You will need to contact our support team with the following information so that an investigation may occur: Your username, the name of the document, and attach the actual document.
  • I am a DocCash member and I am unable to upload a document:

    In order to keep Docstoc’s content unique, only one DocCash member may upload a document. If you are unable to upload a document and you are a DocCash member the likelihood is that another DocCash member has already uploaded the document. No duplicate documents are permitted among DocCash members.

  • How do I delete my Docstoc account?

    If you would like your account to be removed, please send an email to support@Docstoc.com, including the username you would like deleted and the email address you used to register the Docstoc account.
  • How do I change my Docstoc username?

    Docstoc does not currently offer the option of changing usernames.
  • How many documents can I download each day?

    There is a limit of 200 documents that may be downloaded during a 24-hour period.
  • I can’t find a document?

    If you're having a hard time finding a document, you may want to try one of these tips for more effective Docstoc searches:

    • Put your query in quotes. It will only return results in which your search phrase appears in its entirety, and in the order in which you wrote it.
    • Narrow your findings. At the top of the search results page, you can filter the documents by relevance, as well as those most viewed, most downloaded, and most recent. Additionally, on the left hand column, you can filter by file type (e.g. Word, Excel, PDF, etc.) and language.
    • Conduct a title-specific search by starting your search with title: followed by the search term(s). For example, title: business plan, or for even more specific results, use quotes. e.g., title: "business plan." If a title search is proving unsuccessful, try searching by descriptive tag instead. The "search all documents" bar that appears in the top right-hand corner of every page searches both. Search within a specific category. After you click on a category, you'll see a search bar beneath the "search all documents" bar. Category searches will only return results within that section.
  • I have a question about a specific FREE document?

    Docstoc is a community driven site which means that all of the free documents found on Docstoc have been uploaded to the site by the Docstoc community members. If you have a question or concern about a specific document, we recommend that you contact the Docstoc community member who uploaded the document with that question or concern.
  • What is the request feature?

    If you have searched for and cannot find a certain document, you can request for a document and we will let you know as soon as we get it. Just click the Request a Document link that appears when we are unable to successfully match your search term with a document.
  • How to stop the request feature

    You signed up to be notified when a certain document was uploaded to docstoc and now you would like to stop the request feature. You can click the link that says 'Click Here to unsubscribe from this alert' that is at the bottom of every email sent. But you will need to do this with every request that you made. If you did request multiple alerts it is easier for you to sign in to you account and go to here where all of your requests will be listed. Just unsubscribe from any request by clicking the 'X' beside that request.
  • How do I recover a lost password?

    Docstoc has a password retrieval system in place to assist you should you forget your password. Just go to the sign in page and click the ‘forgot password’ link. Provide the requested information and you should receive your password in 10 minutes or less. Please be sure to check both your spam and junk mail boxes because sometimes the email ends up there. Unfortunately, to insure the privacy and security of all Docstoc members, we cannot provide password assistance in any manner other than the sanctioned password retrieval system.
  • How do I change my password?

    Log into your Docstoc account, click on the settings link, located at the top right of the page. On the next page, click the 'Change password' button on the left. Type your old and new passwords into the pop-up box and click OK.
  • When does an account get terminated?

    The most common reasons an account on Docstoc is terminated are: uploading copyrighted content you don’t own or have permission to upload and uploading content that features nudity, violence, hate speech, spam or other offensive content. Please review our Terms of Service, to view the full list.
  • Do I need to complete my profile?

    It is highly recommended that you complete your profile if you intend to promote your documents. By completing your profile, you will increase leads for new business or professional connections, get members and users to view your documents and provide feedback, while contributing to the Docstoc community.
  • What is profile completeness?

    Profile completeness is a status bar that illustrates how much information you’ve filled out on your profile. The status will show 100% completeness, if you’ve filled out your every possible item in your account (Personal Information, Professional Information, Education, Address, and uploaded a profile picture).
  • How do I update my profile?

    Clicking the ‘My Profile’ tab at the top of any Docstoc page will take you to your profile page. On the left side, next to your username, click the ‘Update Profile’ button. You will be able to fill in or update any information on this page. Be sure to click on ‘Submit’ at the bottom of the page to save your information.
  • How do I change/add my profile picture/logo?

    Clicking the ‘My Profile’ tab at the top of any Docstoc page will take you to your profile page. On the left side, next to your username, click the ‘Update Profile’ button. The photo field is the sixth field from the top; click Browse, find the photo you like, and upload it. Be sure to click on ‘Submit’ at the bottom of the page to save your information.
  • I need specific technical assistance, who do I contact?

    If you need technical assistance, please send us to our support team, but please be sure to include the following information: Your username, Screenshots of what is occurring even if you do not think it will be helpful, what browsers you have tried, please try more than one, What OS you are using, and the detailed steps you are taking.
  • My document was removed / deleted, how do I get it back?

    Unfortunately, once a document is removed or deleted from our site, we cannot retrieve the document.
  • Can my account be featured on Docstoc Homepage or Category page?

    Yes. We feature our Docstoc user’s account and documents on our homepage and category sections, if you would like to be considered please send an email to communityevangelist@Docstoc.com, included in the email should be your Docstoc username and the URL (link) of the document you would like to have feature. Please keep in mind that due to the number of emails and requests we receive, not all documents and accounts will be featured.
  • I don’t have an account. Can I still download documents?

    You must have an account to download a document. Take a minute to register - it’s fast, easy, and free. Not only do you get access to the document you want but more than a million others.
  • Can I search just by title or tags?

    Absolutely. Using the 'Search All Documents' bar will look through the tags and titles of all of our documents.
  • Is there a way to find the most popular documents?

    Yes. In fact, on the left-hand column of the Home and Browse pages, you can search by a variety of filters, including most viewed, most downloaded, and most recent.
  • Can I message anyone on Docstoc or just my friends?

    You can contact and comment on anyone’s page on Docstoc, but having friends on your friend list gives you quick and easy access to their profiles and documents without having to search for them. They will be listed under the My Contacts Tab of your Profile Page.
  • How many messages can I send using the Docstoc internal messaging system

    In order to protect the Docstoc community from spam, we have limited the number of internal messages that may be sent to other Docstoc community members to 5 per 24-hours.
  • Do I have to be logged in to comment and rate documents?

    Yes, you have to be logged in to comment on or rate documents.
  • I do not like the comments made about my document:

    Because Docstoc is a community driven site, we do not remove comments simply because you are unhappy with the content. However, you can comment on your own document and place a rebuttal in the comments.
  • What is an Elite document?

    Elite document as specific document that have surpassed a certain total number of views and downloads.

  • Is the transaction on DocStoc secured?

    Yes, all of our transactions are secured. By secured we mean that DocStoc has taken measures to insure that your credit card information will not be stolen. We also have measures in place to keep people from using stolen credit cards on Docstoc.
  • How do I get a refund for a document purchased from the Docstore?

    You may be refunded for select documents. To receive a refund, you must send an email to support@docstoc.com and provide the following information: Username, Document Title, Date of Purchase, and Last 4 digits of Credit Card used for purchase. Please read our Docstore Terms of Service for more details.
  • How do I remove my stored credit card from my settings?

    Go to the settings page and click on the Credit Card tab. You will see the credit card(s) you have stored on Docstoc. You can simply click on the Remove link for the card you wish to remove.
  • How do I receive a receipt for a purchase?

    After a successful transaction, check your email for the receipt of the purchase. Please be sure to check both your spam and junk mail boxes because sometimes the email ends up there. If you did not receive the receipt, please email our support team with the following information: Your username, the URL of the document you purchased, and the last 4 digits of the credit card you used to purchase the document.
  • There is no Province box in your billing page?

    If you are purchasing a document or joining Docstoc’s Pro membership and live in Canada, we don’t require you to fill in the province.

  • I live in Canada, how do I fill the zip code section of your Billing page?

    If you are residing in Canada please type your zip code in this format (A#A #A#).
  • I keep receiving transaction error

    Please make sure that all of the information you are inputting in the billing page matches the information on the credit card you are using. Please note that our system locks a user out after the 3rd failed attempt. You will need to wait a full 24-Hours to be able to purchase the document.
  • My transaction did not go through, but I see charges on my credit card statement

    Due to security measures, after the failed transaction the amount charge will show up on your credit card statement as ‘pending’ charges. The charges will automatically be removed by your credit card company, if after 2 – 3 days you still see the charges, please email us at support@docstoc.com with your Docstoc username and the last 4 digits of the credit card number you used for the transaction.
  • I have a specific question regarding a document/report before purchasing

    If you have a specific question regarding our document for sale, please feel free to email our support team. Included in the email should be the URL of the document and a detailed question. Unfortunately, the DocStoc staff does not have the time to run searches for you or is able to offer advice as to what legal document best suits your needs.
  • I have a question about the Docstore, who can help me?

    Please email our customer support staff at support@docstoc.com.
  • How long will my documents be saved in my CART?

    The documents will be saved in your CART until you manually remove them.
  • What is that red star next to the document in my CART?

    The red star next to your document signifies that the particular document you are interested in is also available at a discount in a package bundle. Click on the package at the bottom of the page to add it to your CART at a discount.
  • How do I pay for the documents in my CART?

    Click on the green ‘Checkout Now’ tab to the right of the CART page and follow the 3-step process; view cart, checkout, and instant download.
  • How do I partner with Docstoc to sell documents?

  • What documents can I sell on Docstore?

    You can sell a variety of documents on Docstoc, such as: e-books, guides and tutorials, academic papers, editorials, legal templates, business documents, research reports, excel spreadsheets, and much more. You can upload Adobe Acrobat files (.PDF), Word Files (.DOC and .DOCX), Spreadsheets (.XLS and .XLSX), Presentations (.PPT and .PPTX) and even text files (.TXT and .RTF).
  • Are there any restrictions on what type of documents I can sell?

    You are only allowed to sell documents which you have created yourself or which you have the rights to sell. Uploading copyrighted content you don’t own or have permission to sell in addition to uploading content that features nudity, violence, hate speech, spam or other offensive content will be removed and rejected by our review team. Please review our Terms of Service.
  • Are there fees for selling my documents?

    No, you will never incur any transaction fees or other charges for selling your documents on Docstoc. For the first 60 days from opening your account the sellers will keep 100% of all sales. After the first 60 days, the proceeds from all sales are split evenly between the seller and Docstoc (Sellers keep 50% of all sales). Docstoc’s portion will be deducted from your monthly payments.
  • When do I get paid?

    You will only be paid after you earn $100. The amount of money sales of your documents earned is calculated only at the end of the month. While you may reach the $100 base threshold before the end of the month, sales payments are only calculated at the end of the month so your earnings may exceed the $100 base threshold. Once the $100 base threshold is met, you will receive your payment from Docstoc within 30 days. For example, if you earned $75 in April, and $65 in May, you will be issued a payment for $140 on or before June 30th.
  • How do I get paid?

    You can select to be paid by check or by PayPal. You can set your payment preference in your Payment Information page.

  • What is your refund policy?

    We offer every user a 7-day money back guarantee, in case they are not satisfied with the document purchased. In the event that your document is refunded, your account will be debited accordingly.
  • How should I price my documents?

    You are free to set any price you choose for your documents. On average, documents in the Docstore sell for $15 to $30. The price you charge on each document should depend on the length, quality, presentation, and amount of time place in constructing the document.
  • How long does it take for my account to get approved?

    Due to the number of applications our Docstoc review team receives, it usually takes from 1-3 days from the submission of the application to screen a seller account. If your account has been pending for more than a week, please email us our support team with your username and the date you applied to create a seller account.
  • How do I upload documents for sale?

    Once your seller account is established, you can click on the main upload page and click on "Upload to my store".
  • Is there a limit to the number of documents I can sell?

    No, there is no limit.
  • Why is my account pending?

    After you submit your application and upload your documents, your account will be reviewed by Docstoc. Please check your email for your account status.
  • Why wasn't my account approved?

    All accounts are reviewed by Docstoc to make sure that all the documents posted for sale meet our quality standards. If you received an email notifying you that your account was not approved, please refer to that email for the reason.
  • I already uploaded documents to my Docstoc account. How can I start selling these documents?

    You cannot sell documents you uploaded as a regular Docstoc member. In order to post documents for sale, you'll need to re-upload them for sale after your sellers account is established.
  • I currently live outside of the United States. Can I still sell documents?

    Yes. We have no geographical restrictions but, at this point in time, the document must be English.
  • Can I re-upload a document for sale after it has been rejected?

    Once a document has been rejected, you will need to make changes to the document before it can be sold. Be sure to implement the changes in the document, based on the reasons stated in the email you received. Once you have made those changes, you can re-upload the document, so our review team can screen the document again.
  • Does Docstoc only accept English documents for sale?

    Currently the only document language accepted for sale by our sellers is English. In the future we will expand to other languages.
  • My document is not showing in my catalog

    Make sure the document being uploaded is not already open on your computer. Also, make sure you are not uploading a password or secured document for sale onto your account. If you have followed these instructions and your document is still not showing in your catalog, you will need to contact our Docstoc technical team with the following information so that an investigation may occur: Your username, the name of the document, and attach the actual document in the email. If possible, please take a screen-shot of the page and attach that image to our support as well.
  • Why are my Stats in ‘My Store’ not up-to-date?

    Docstoc does not update the stats in real time. There is an approximate 48 hour lag before the stats are updated.
  • How do I change the price and preview setting of my approved document?

    Click on ‘My Store’ at the top of every page. From there continue onto the tab labeled ‘Catalog’ at the right hand side of your dashboard. You will be able to view and edit all of your accepted and pending documents by clicking on ‘edit’ at the far right hand side of each document. After you have made the changes to your document make sure you click on ‘update’ to save your changes.

    To have your DocCash account removed from your Docstoc profile, simply email our Docstoc team. Please include your Docstoc username in the email.
  • What kind of content/documents can I upload on Docstoc?

    We accept any documents in Word, Excel or PDF format. Just keep in mind that you should not upload copyrighted documents for which you do not own the rights or have permission from the owner to share.
  • How can I increase the amount of money I make?

    The simplest way to make more money through DocCash is to upload more documents. Make sure that you give your documents good titles, tags, descriptions, and categories. This will make it easier for users to find your documents and click on their ads. Finally, you should share your documents across the web on sites like Facebook and Twitter. More advice on making money from DocCash can be found here.
  • What is the best way to upload lots of documents to Docstoc?

    Use Docstoc Sync to seamlessly upload lots of documents from your desktop. You can also use our web form to upload files in bulk. Docstoc OneClick makes it easy to upload individual or particularly large files.
  • Do the documents uploaded in the DocCash program look any different than regular documents uploaded?

    Yes, documents uploaded by members of the DocCash program have a unique ad template.
  • Can I control the display of Google AdSense ads on my documents?

    No, the manner in which Google AdSense ads are displayed alongside your documents is controlled by Docstoc staff members. We display the ads with optimal ad revenue (for both Docstoc and DocCash members) in mind.
  • Are there any rules that go along with being a member of the DocCash program?

    At no point should you engage in click fraud. If you or your friends actively attempt to inflate the ad revenue on your documents by clicking on advertisements, you will be banned from both from Docstoc and Google AdSense. It's also not legitimate to upload and share copyrighted documents for which you do not own the rights or have permission from the owner to share.
  • Do I need a Google AdSense account to join DocCash? What if I don’t have an account?

    If you already have a Google AdSense account, just provide us with some basic information about the account and we'll enroll you in DocCash. If you don't already have a Google AdSense account, we'll help you set one up. Just submit your email to us and your account will be set up with Google within 2-3 days. Visit our sign up form to start, regardless of whether you have a Google AdSense account or not.
  • If I use my Google AdSense account for DocCash, can I use it on my website as well?

    Yes, you can link your Google AdSense account to multiple sites at once. However, Docstoc only will take 50% of the income earned on Docstoc; the money you make in connection with your own site is all your own.
  • If I use my Google AdSense account for multiple websites, how do I set up a channel to see how much money I am making just from Docstoc?

    To see how much money you are making from Google AdSense on a particular website, set up a channel for that site using the Google AdSense control panel. Once established, you can track how much money you are making from that site in real-time. It will also show you how many page views the website has generated for you.
  • How can I see how much money I've made from the DocCash program?

    Log into the Google AdSense control panel to see how much money your account is making in real-time. If you are using the same account for multiple sites, first select the channel you've set up for Docstoc.
  • How do I get the money I earn through the DocCash program?

    By default, Google pays AdSense members each month by sending a check in the mail. You can also set up your Google AdSense account so that Google directly deposits earnings into your bank account. To learn more, click here.
  • Which advertisements on Docstoc generate revenue for my documents?

    We will split the revenue on all of the advertisements that show up on single document pages.
  • Do you publish the revenue split?

    We will split the revenue 50/50 on all of the advertisements that show up on single document pages. Docstoc does not share in any AdSense revenue you generate outside of Docstoc.
  • What if I uploaded documents before the DocCash program was launched; can I make money on those documents?

    Unfortunately, the DocCash program cannot be applied retroactively to documents uploaded before the program was launched. Due to technical limitations, only documents uploaded after you request enrollment in DocCash can generate revenue for you.
  • Can some of the documents I upload to Docstoc be in the DocCash Program and Some of the Documents I upload not?

    Yes, but you will have to create two accounts: one enrolled in DocCash and the other not enrolled. If you enroll an account in DocCash, all of the documents uploaded with that account will earn revenue from the DocCash program.
  • My Google AdSense account was declined:

    We are sorry about this; however, Docstoc does not make the decision regarding which Google AdSense account will be accepted. If you would like further information as to why your account was declined, please contact the Google AdSense support team for assistance here.
  • There was an error in associating my AdSense account:

    Because this is a Google issue rather than a Docstoc issue, you need to double check your info with Google Adsense by: Logging in to www.google.com/adsense, Clicking on the "My Account" tab, and Reviewing "Payee Information" which is the third section down. If you need to, you can update your AdSense information by clicking on "edit" next to "Payee Information'. Either way, when your make the association request, the information you provide needs to match the payee information Google has on file in your account.
  • I can’t see the AdSense with my documents:

    Google AdSense only shows up on documents uploaded after the account is associated with Docstoc. Furthermore, AdSense does not always show up each time you look at a document. If you would like to take a look, please be sure to log out of your account prior to checking on the AdSense. Also make sure that you have the cookies enabled on your computer as wells as having the latest version of JavaScript and Flash.

  • What is Included with my Premium Membership?

    Premium Members get unlimited access to download and print all documents in our Document Library, a collection of millions of documents across hundreds of categories. In addition Premium Members receive credits to download and print Docstoc Premium Documents, thousands of attorney/professionally drafted contracts, forms and templates produced by Docstoc. Premium Members also enjoy an advertisement-free experience.
  • Do I have to subscribe/pay in order to print and download documents?

    It’s free to read virtually all 20 million+ documents on Docstoc (DocStore documents have partial reading restrictions). Some documents are available to download and print with basic registration which does not require a fee. However, select documents which are part of the Document Library and Docstoc Premium Documents require a Premium Membership to download/print.
  • I used to be able to access some of these documents for free, can I still?

    Docstoc Premium launched in October of 2010. If you created an account on Docstoc prior to this time, you currently have access to download/print documents in the Document Library for free (note that you will not receive credits to download/print Docstoc Premium Documents).
  • What is the Document Library?

    The Document Library is our signature collection of professional documents that include: contracts, templates, forms, agreements, student papers, research, and much more. With a Docstoc Premium Membership, you have access to read, download and print all documents in the Document Library.
  • How to Change/Cancel Your iPad Docstoc Premium Subscription

    When buying Docstoc Premium subscription via the iPad you will need to change or cancel your subscription from the iPad itself. Since Apple manages the iPad subscription and not Docstoc you will need to use the iPad to change or cancel your subscription. Please follow the following simple steps:

    1. Go the Settings app on the iPad

    2. Click the Store option

    4. To cancel, turn the Auto-Renewal switch to OFF. To change your plan, select the other plan from the available options below

In addition, members who have uploaded/contributed documents to Docstoc may choose to exclude their uploaded documents from the Document Library.
  • How can I tell which documents are part of the Document Library?

    Documents that are part of the Document Library are marked with the symbol “DL” in the upper right hand corner of the document pages and in search results. When searching and browsing documents you’ll notice that Library Documents also have thumbnails with a white background.
  • Is there a limit to the number of documents I can download and print?

    Docstoc Premium Members have unlimited downloading and printing privileges on all Library Documents (with some restriction solely to prevent abuse). Docstoc Premium Documents can be downloaded and printed with credits; the ability to download and print Docstoc Premium Documents is limited to the number of credits a Premium Member has available at any given time. Premium Members receive a fixed number of credits each month. Once a Docstoc Premium Document has been made available for downloading or printing with credits, that document may be downloaded and printed as many times as the Premium Member chooses.

    Docstoc Premium Members receive access to download documents in the Document Library and credits to download and print Docstoc Premium Documents. Documents in the Docstoc DocStore published/uploaded by our Partners or User-Sellers still require a separate fee.
  • What the difference between the Monthly Membership and the Daily Pass?

    Monthly memberships are charged on an ongoing monthly basis and provide the full suite of benefits of Docstoc Premium Membership. Daily Pass members are charged once, but only have access to download and print documents in the Document Library for 24 hours. Afterwards, Daily Pass Members revert back to Basic Members. In addition, Daily Pass Members do not earn credits that can be applied towards Docstoc Premium Documents.
  • Why do you have me select my interests after I sign up for monthly membership?

    Docstoc Premium delivers documents specific to your professional needs. Selecting your interests helps us provide you with new, relevant Library Documents and Docstoc Premium Documents on an ongoing basis.
  • Will the documents I upload to Docstoc be included in the Document Library?

    The Documents you upload to Docstoc (excluding documents for sale) may be included in the Document Library. A variety of factors including the upload date, document usage & user contributor determines which documents are included in the Document Library. However, you may choose to exclude your documents from the Document Library, which is managed through your user settings.
  • Can I remove the documents I upload from the Document Library?

    Yes, you can opt-out all your document uploads from the Document Library. Simply follow the steps below.

    4. Check “Exclude my uploads from the Docstoc Document Library”
  • Can I cancel my Docstoc Premium membership at any time? How do I cancel my membership?

    Docstoc Premium Memberships may be canceled at any time. To cancel your premium membership, go to your settings, click on "Subscription" in the left hand column, and then begin the cancellation process by clicking on "Cancel My Subscription." After completing your cancellation, you will receive a confirmation email. You will still be able to use your membership until the end of the billing cycle, but you will not incur any more charges.

    When you have a problem downloading a document, please contact our support team and please make sure to include the URL link to the document with which you are experiencing problems and your Docstoc username.
  • Can I save the document on my computer?

    Yes. Depending on the internet browser you are using, it will prompt you to save the document onto your computer. From there you will have access to the document.
  • Will the document be E-mail or Mail to me?

    Unfortunately, we do not E-mail or snail mail the document to our users. After downloading or purchasing a document, you will have automatic access to the document.
  • Is there a cost associate with downloading documents from Docstoc?

    Docstoc is a user-generated community for sharing professional documents. With Docstoc, you can find and download a vast quantity of high quality legal, business, technology, educational, and creative documents for free.
  • How many documents can I download each day?

    There is a limit of 200 documents that may be downloaded during a 24-hour period.

  • What is an Elite document?

    Elite document as specific document that have surpassed a certain total number of views and downloads.
  • Why can’t I download or print copyright protected documents?

    Some documents are there to be read but not downloaded per the specifications of the copyright holder. Allowing you to download them would be copyright infringement.
  • I cannot open the eBooks on my computer:

    To access the eBook you purchase, you will need to perform the following steps. Make sure your computer has the latest version of adobe, if you are unsure please visit their site here and download the latest version. After installing the latest Adobe reader, please go ahead and install the Adobe Digital Edition here. After the installation, you will be able to view the eBook you have purchased.   • Can I upload documents privately?

    Yes. When using the OneClick application, check the box that says private. When using our upload page, simply select Upload Privately on the right-hand side. These documents will only be viewable by you and people to whom you provide the link.
  • What if I uploaded a document publically and now want to make it private?

    This is easy. Just open your MyDocs tab and select the document you would like to make private. You can either use the pull down menu and select 'make private' or use the button above the document that says 'make private.' Please take the opposite actions to make a document public.
  • What file formats do you support?

    You can upload Adobe Acrobat files (.PDF), Word Files (.DOC and .DOCX), Spreadsheets (.XLS and .XLSX), Presentations (.PPT and .PPTX) and even text files (.TXT and .RTF).
  • Do you support Open Office or Neo Office documents (.ODP, .ODS, etc)?

    Unfortunately, Docstoc does not currently support these formats. However, both Neo Office and Open Office allow file saving in the formats listed above, so simply save them in a usable format and upload.
  • Can I upload video, audio, photos, or interactive content?

    Docstoc only supports documents. Video, audio, photos, and interactive content cannot be uploaded or displayed on Docstoc.
  • What is the maximum size of a file I can upload?

    The maximum size of a single file is 50 MB.
  • Is there a limit to how many documents I can upload?

    No. You can upload all your documents without ever having to worry about running out of space. Storage is unlimited.
  • Why did my document fail to convert?

    Chances are your document was not saved in a format we currently support. Save it as one of the formats we support and try uploading it again using the 'upload new version' button. If the issue persists, please email our support team with your Docstoc username and the actual file attached in the email.
  • Does Docstoc support non-English documents?

  • How do I upload documents in bulk?

    There are numerous ways to upload to Docstoc in bulk: With Docstoc Sync, simply drag multiple files into your sync desktop folder, and Sync will do the rest. With the OneClick application and the upload page, when the dialogue box that allows you to select your files appears, select all of the documents you wish to upload by clicking on the first document and shift-clicking the last. All documents in between will also be selected.
  • What is the difference between Profile View and Widescreen?

    When uploading documents, you have a choice between Profile View and Widescreen View. Profile View displays a small window next to the document featuring your username, your profile picture, and a small amount of profile information. Profile View is ideal for those seeking to leverage Docstoc as a free marketing tool – boosting branding, referral traffic, lead generation and sales. In widescreen, no such window is visible, offering more screen space to your document.
  • Can I edit my documents once they’ve been uploaded?

    Documents cannot be edited directly on Docstoc. However, you can edit files on your local hard drive and replace previous versions on Docstoc if you so choose by using the 'upload new version' button.
  • Can I upload a new revision of one of my documents without destroying my view counts?

    Yes. Make sure you are logged in and then click on the document you wish to update. The third button just above the upper right corner of the document reads Upload New Version. Click on this and then follow the instructions for uploading publicly or privately.
  • What are categories?

    Categories are the general areas under which Docstoc documents are filed. Our top-level categories are Legal, Financial, Business, Educational, Technology, Creative, and Buzz, with various subcategories beneath them.
  • What should I do if my documents don’t fit in any of Docstoc’s categories?

    Choose the one that is most applicable and use that category. Remember, the categories are there for you convenience and are completely optional.
  • What are tags?

    Tags are something like mini-categories: they are descriptive terms that describe the topics that your document deals with. If you click on a tag, it will bring up a page that lists all Docstoc documents that use that tag. We recommend using 2 to 3 word tags for your documents.
  • When should I add descriptions on my documents?

    Adding additional information to your document is very important to users who are viewing the document and for promotional purposes. Whenever possible, add as much information about the document as possible.
  • Why categorize, tag and/or add a description?

    Categorizing, tagging and adding a description all help with search engine optimization (SEO). Basically, by posting your docs to Docstoc and taking time to properly categorize, tag and describe, you increase the likelihood of getting indexed and ranked by the major search engines. This is what helps boost branding, traffic, lead generation and/or sales!
