This affidavit of a friend or family member testifying as to the genuine nature of a
relationship and marriage is used by foreign nationals who apply for green cards based
on marriage. The green card applicant is interviewed by an officer to make sure the
marriage is genuine. This is used as evidence to prove that the marriage is genuine by
stating the declarant's relationship to the applicant and the applicant's familiarity with the
married couple. The document can be customized to include any information that the
declarant deems helpful to the green card application process.
