This document sets forth the terms of an agreement between an artist and a manager
whereby the manager is employed as the sole and exclusive manager for a term of
years. This document sets forth the duties of the manager and contains standard
language but also provides opportunities for customization in order to fit the needs of
the drafting parties. This agreement is useful to an artist, a manager, or their legal
representatives.
ARTISTS MANAGEMENT CONTRACT
This Artist Management Agreement is made and entered on this ___ day of __________, 20___,
(the “Agreement”) between _________________, with an office address of
___________________(the “Manager”) and ________________, with an address of
_____________________ (the “Artist”) collectively referred to herein as the “Parties”.
In consideration of the mutual covenants and conditions herein contained, Artist agrees with
Manager as follows:
1. Artist hereby employs ______________________ (“Manager”) as his sole and exclusive
manager for a term commenncing from the date above written and continuing for a period of ___
years [Instruction: Term should not to exceed 7 years] (“the Term”).
2. Manager hereby accepts and agrees to perform the required services for Artist during the
term hereof. Artist expressly understands and agrees, however, that Manager shall have the right
to render management services to other persons, either in a capacity similar to that in which
Manager is hereby employed by Artist, or otherwise
3. As Artist’s Manager, Manager’s duties shall include the following:
(a) to consult, assist, advise and counsel Artist in the development and advancement of
Artist’s professional career in the entertainment industry;
(b) to use all reasonable and diligent efforts to assist Artist in procuring employment for
Artist; [Instruction: In some jurisdictions, a personal manager may not procure
employment on behalf of a client]
(c) to negotiate contracts for the advancement of Artist’s professional services, in all fields of
entertainment industry including the motion pictures, theatres, legitimate stage, radio
broadcasting, television, phonograph recordings including all other media or
entertainment now in existence and hereafter developed.
4. As consideration for Manager’s acceptance of this employment and for services agreed
to be rendered by Manager hereunder, Artist hereby agrees to pay Manager a sum equal to
( %) of all moneys including salaries, earnings, royalties,
bonuses, shares of profit and all other incomes received by Artist, directly or indirectly, as
compensation for Artist’s professional services rendered or agreed to be rendered during the
Term hereof under contracts, or any extensions, renewals, modifications or substitutions thereof,
5. In the event that Manager fails to obtain a bona fide offer of employment on Artist’s
behalf from an acceptable employer during a period of time in excess of four (4) consecutive

months, either party hereto shall have the right to terminate this Agreement by giving a notice in
writing to the other by registered mail. [Instruction: This provision can be modified to allow
for termination in the event a certain event does not occur within a specified period of time,
for example, securing a record deal or booking a major television role. Also keep in mind that
if you are in a jurisdiction that does not allow a manager to secure employment, then the
language should be modified to reflect something other than employment, for example
introduce Artist to an agent, or seek out employment opportunities but does not act as an agent
per se]
6. In the event Manager provides Artist with a bonafide offer and Artist fails to accept such
offer within the Term of this Agreement, but thereafter, and within a period of six (6) months
from the date upon which Manager submitted the offer, Artist accepts an offer on substantially
the same terms, then in that event it shall be deemed to have been consummated during the term
hereof and Manager shall thereupon be entitled to compensation for the same.
7. Artist hereby authorizes and empowers Manager to collect all checks and monies due and
payable to Artist as compensation earned by Artist as aforesaid, to endorse Artist’s name to said
checks and to deposit said checks and monies to Manager’s bank account, to retain the
percentage of commissions payable to Manager and to pay over the balance to Artist, hereby
appointing Manager as Artist’s attorney-in-fact for the aforesaid purposes.
8. Manager shall maintain complete and accurate books and records relating to this
Agreement and Artist shall have the right to have an independent certified public accountant, at
all reasonable hours, and on not less than sixty (60) days prior notice, but no more than once in a
year, conduct an examination of such books and records.
