This work for hire agreement sets forth the terms of the contractual relationship between a contractor and a client and specifies that all work product created by the contractor under the agreement is to be the result of a work-for-hire arrangement. In a work-for-hire arrangement the legal author of the work product is deemed to be the client who hired the contractor, not the contractor who actually creates the work product. This is counter to the general rule that the person who creates the work product is the legally recognized author of the work product. For independent contractor relationships, it is a requirement that such work-for-hire agreements be in writing. This document can be customized to fit the needs of the parties.
